Small Time Monsters, The Dream Machine's second full - length album, will hit the shelves this April via Run On Records/Modern Sky. If their 2022 debut Thank God! It’s The Dream Machine… was their wild first step, Small Time Monsters is the more polished younger brother. The album features psychedelia, catchy choruses, surf guitar riffs, and B - movie nods, all set against the backdrop of their seaside town New Brighton. This time, the wilder elements are tamed, with songs crafted into three - minute gems. The lead single, Frankenstein, is an earworm for the sugar - rush crowd, evoking everything from spooky rockabilly to the sunny sounds of Blossoms. Cindy’s Eyes, a surf - stomper about unrequited love, has a chorus fit for large arenas. Produced by The Coral’s James Skelly, it was partly recorded at The Dream Machine’s rehearsal space and finished at Skelly’s Kempston Street Studios. Singer Zak McDonnell’s lyrics are more refined and literary, exploring everyday life, teenage angst, B - movie monsters, family issues, and coming - of - age stories in modern Britain. Small Time Monsters is the sound of a band breaking out of a small town and into the big world.
