Description

In 1986, after nearly 30 years on Columbia Records, country music icon Johnny Cash dropped his first Mercury Records album, Class Of ’55. It was a cool collaboration with fellow Sun Records stars Roy Orbison, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins. Seven years later, before joining Rick Rubin’s American Recordings, he did another great collab, “The Wanderer”, with U2. During those years, Cash released six albums for Mercury. While his Columbia and American works got lots of attention, his Mercury collection was untouched... until now. In April 2020, UMe / Mercury Records are excited to present Johnny Cash: The Complete Mercury Studio Albums (1986 - 1991) in a 7CD/7LP box set. The audio is newly remastered from the original Mercury master tapes. Notably, the Classic Cash: Hall Of Fame Series album is in a 2LP format for the first time. All LPs are on 180g vinyl for top - notch audio, and the box comes with an MP3 download voucher. With new liner notes by music writer Scott Schinder, this set is the first deep dive into Cash’s Mercury collection, showing its role as a bridge between his well - known Columbia and American catalogues.

To enjoy this Johnny Cash box set, simply pick your preferred format - either the vinyl or the CD. If you choose the vinyl, place the record on your turntable carefully and use the tonearm to start playing. For the CD, insert it into your CD player. You can also redeem the MP3 download voucher to listen on your digital devices. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. Keep the records in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. For the CDs, store them in their cases when not in use. This will help maintain the quality of the music for a long time.
