Description

Epoch tells the remarkable story of DeYarmond Edison, a group composed of Brad Cook, Phil Cook, Justin Vernon, and Joe Westerlund, like never before. It's a tale about community, vision, family, and a quartet so outstanding that it seemed too good to last. In exquisite maximalist detail, Epoch delves into their saga while also sharing a more universal story. It explores and celebrates the amazing things people are doing, creating, and building outside the spotlight cities, treating 'small - town endeavors' with the respect they deserve. Scenes, especially the so - called small ones, are woven together by friendships and relationships. In this sense, Epoch is also a heartwarming friendship fable. As Executive Producer Grayson Haver Currin says, 'There’s a coming of age when it comes together, and a coming of age when it breaks apart.' The story isn't about the epilogue like 'where are they now'; it's about the moment, the people, the friendships, and the scene. • DeYarmond Edison was the forerunner of Bon Iver, Megafaun, and Field Report. Justin Vernon went on to create Bon Iver. Brad Cook, Phil Cook, and Joe Westerlund formed the folk group Megafaun, and Christopher Porterfield founded Field Report. • This box set includes 5 LPs, 4 CDs, and a book that showcases the work of DeYarmond Edison. • The LPs feature albums like Silent Signs (widely available on DSPs), hazeltons (precursor to For Emma…), All of Us Free, Epoch, and Where We Belong (the last three are previously unreleased with original tracklists and bonus audio). • The CDs capture live audio from residencies at North Carolina's Bickett Gallery and Wisconsin's Mabel Tainter. • There's a download card with exclusive online - only tracks. • The ~114 - page book contains stories, photos, and archived materials (setlists, lyric sheets, etc.) to document the band's history. • Comparable recent releases are Angel Olsen's 'Song of the Lark...and Other Far Memories' and Jason Molina Sojourner box set.

Using this Epoch box set is easy and enjoyable. For the LPs, make sure your record player is in good working condition. Gently place the LP on the turntable, lower the needle carefully, and enjoy the rich sound. When handling the CDs, insert them into a compatible CD player. You can also use the download card to access the bonus online - only tracks. Just follow the instructions on the card to download the music to your preferred device. As for the book, take your time to flip through it and explore the stories, photos, and archived materials. It's a great way to learn about the band's history. When it comes to maintenance, keep the LPs and CDs in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Avoid touching the playing surface of the LPs with your fingers to prevent scratches. Clean the LPs with a proper record - cleaning brush regularly. For the CDs, use a soft, lint - free cloth to wipe them in a straight motion from the center out. Store the box set in its original packaging when not in use to protect it from dust and damage.
