Description
Originally launched as a limited - edition four - CD collection in 2009, Factory Communications: 1978 - 92 pays homage to the iconic record label and its late founder, Tony Wilson. Now making its vinyl debut, this project honors one of the most significant labels in UK pop history. It brings together 63 rare and hard - to - find tracks from a wide variety of acts, including New Order, Joy Division, The Durutti Column, Happy Mondays, Electronic, A Certain Ratio, Section 25 and more. The set also comes with sleeve notes penned by Paul Morley. Factory Records was founded in 1978 when Tony Wilson, a former Granada TV presenter, joined forces with Alan Erasmus, later joined by maverick producer Martin Hannett. The label name first appeared at a club featuring local bands. Its first release, “A Factory Sample”, marked the birth of Factory Records. This collection celebrates the label's entire journey, from the cutting - edge post - punk of early acts to the full - blown 'Madchester scene', ending with the last Factory release, “Sunshine and Love” by Happy Mondays.
This 8LP vinyl box set is a great collectible for music lovers. To use it, just place the vinyl on a record player, gently drop the needle onto the groove, and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting dirt on the records. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. If the records get dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently clean the grooves. Don't forget to take care of the sleeve notes too; keep them flat and dry to preserve the written content.
