After the 1967 Decca releases of Matthew & Son and New Masters, Cat Stevens became a well - known pop star. Stardom and a year's recovery from TB made him pause and reflect. In 1970, with a new deal from Island Records, he released Mona Bone Jakon, introducing a new sound that shaped the Cat Stevens we love today. Produced by Paul Samwell - Smith of The Yardbirds, the album features hits like “Lady D’Arbanville”, “I Wish, I Wish” and “Maybe You’re Right”. “Katmandu” even has Peter Gabriel on flute! 50 years later, the songs still sound fresh. This 2020 Super Deluxe Edition comes in a remastered CD version, a new 2020 Mix on CD and LP. It also includes an exclusive CD of unreleased demos and another CD with 18 live 1970/71 performances. The 50th anniversary set has a live 12” etched vinyl E.P. of the rare “Live At Plumpton Jazz & Blues Festival” from August 1970, and a BluRay with the “Lady D’Arbanville” promo video, eight live TV shows, and HD audio of the 2020 Mix.
