666 Kill: Vinyl EP

‘666 Kill’ is an EP with a unique origin. Healey challenged himself to quickly create a body of work from start to finish without over - analyzing. In his bedroom, he penned lyrics full of violent gothic images like a devilish home invasion in ‘666 Kill’, an existential moment in ‘Lovelawn’, and a metaphorical grim reaper in ‘Learn Toulouse’. Then, he rushed to his studio/garage to record them rapidly. He says, “I explored ideas like missing planes and an obsession with death. It might sound depressing, but I found it fascinating. We all have strange thoughts we usually keep to ourselves. Writing without a filter was exciting.” A week later, Healey had recorded vocals and most of the instruments himself. Two weeks later, he was pleasantly surprised by his creation. From the menacing country - folk of the title track to the bleak beauty of ‘Lovelawn’ and the uplifting ‘When You’re Lonely’, it combines Elliott Smith's low - fi introspection with Neil Young's rawness. A standout is ‘Guitar Music’ with its hypnotic rhythm and screeching sax. Ironically, it was Healey's first song on keys and has no guitar except for some bass.
