A Beginner's Mind: Limited 'Pumpkin Head' Orange Vinyl LP

A Beginner’s Mind was born when two Asthmatic Kitty labelmate musicians took a month - long songwriting break at a friend’s cabin in upstate New York. After daily work, they watched movies to relax, and soon their songs started mirroring the films. The 14 - song album is loosely based on popular movies, spanning highbrow to lowbrow. The two musicians co - wrote, one doing the verse and the other the chorus, freely creating chord progressions and lyrics. Rigorous editing followed. The album is more of a rambling philosophical exploration than a cinematic analysis, with esoteric interpolations questioning what it means to be human in a broken world. Stevens and De Augustine wrote with a sense of shoshin, the Zen Buddhist concept this record is named after. They used movies as prompts, letting their instincts guide the process, aiming for empathy and openness.

Using this vinyl LP is simple. Just place it on a record player, gently drop the needle on the starting groove, and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on the record. Keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures, as these can warp the vinyl.
