Graham Lambkin, known from Shadow Ring, presents his long - awaited double LP, Aphorisms. It's his first major solo work since Community in 2016. Recorded in early 2022 in post - pandemic New York and post - Brexit London, this album weaves the everyday sounds into intimate and haunting soundscapes. Made between his East London home and Blank Forms in New York, Aphorisms combines these two spaces, creating an imaginary stage for his musical stories. It's a transatlantic reflection on his living and working places. Using collage techniques, Lambkin layers field recordings, piano, guitar, percussion, vocal parts, and recycled elements to create hallucinatory views. Like Shadow Ring's Lindus, it explores estrangement and displacement as Lambkin returns to London after 20 years in the States. Aphorisms continues Lambkin's synthetic - naturalist sound approach, twisting diverse elements into a unified sonic space. The album focuses on two pianos, one in each city, creating a spooky atmosphere filled with melodic bits, song fragments, spoken words, and raw vocal sounds. In the closing track, familiar melodies float as if from afar. Featuring album art by Lambkin, mastered by Stephan Mathieu, and with packaging designed by Alec Mapes - Frances, this is Lambkin at his best, taking his unique mission to a new level.
