The 1978 debut album Articulation marked the start of a remarkable recording career for guitarist Rodney Jones. Jones began his musical journey in and around New York, collaborating with jazz legends like Dizzy Gillespie and Tommy Flanagan, while also leading his own quartet. On this album, Rodney is joined by a stellar lineup including Wallace Roney III on trumpet, Arthur Blythe on alto sax, Bob Mintzer on tenor sax, Bernadine Davis on flute, Kenny Kirkland on piano, Kenwood Denard on percussion drums, and Bemshi Jones on vocals. The track 'Hard New York Swing' also features Benjamin Brown on drums and Bruce Johnson on bass. The back sleeve's liner notes were penned by Wim van Eyle.
