Description

The first two minutes of Sun June’s third album, Bad Dream Jaguar, create a dreamy state. Laura Colwell’s voice hovers over a slow - building, sparse synth, bringing to mind a tipsy sense of loneliness, a hazy memory, and a disco ball spinning for an empty dancefloor at night. Sun June’s music often feels like a shared memory, with details so close you can almost touch them. Based in Austin, their music has a distinct Texan feel - unhurried, like long drives across an open expanse, with heat - induced refractions on the pavement. But on Bad Dream Jaguar, Sun June breaks away from the Texas backdrop. It's filled with longing, distance, transience, and a quiet fear. The only certainty comes from the murky past. It's a story of aging, when you're in that strange in - between state. You have a clear picture of your past self and the places you've been, along with generational curses and family, but the future seems vast and unclear, and the present slips away. There's a blend of hi - fi and lo - fi. Some songs like “Texas” were recorded live in one take during a rush before the recording session. “Eager” and “Easy Violence” feature early vocal takes from Colwell, with the final songs built on the demos. “Easy Violence” describes staying up all night and falling into bad patterns, followed by “John Prine,” a drumless, piano - based ballad with pedal steel manipulated to sound like synths. Sun June’s records always have an airy feel despite their melancholic nature, with a richly textured foundation of ease. The layers on Bad Dream Jaguar float rather than tangle, like sheaths of light as the sun sets and darkness creeps in. The record exists between giving up and going all - out, with a small glimmer of hopeful confidence at its core. Tracklist: Side A: 1. Eager 2. 16 Riders 3. Mixed Bag 4. Moon Ahead 5. Ambitions 6. Easy Violence Side B: 1. John Prine 2. Sage 3. Washington Square 4. Get Enough 5. Texas 6. Lightning

To enjoy this Bad Dream Jaguar vinyl LP, simply place it on a record player. Make sure the record player is clean and in good working condition to get the best sound quality. When handling the vinyl, hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface, as this can affect the sound. After use, store the vinyl in its protective sleeve and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and heat. Don't stack too many records on top of it to prevent warping. This album is a great way to relax and immerse yourself in Sun June's unique music, so take your time to enjoy each track and the overall mood it creates.
