Description
Whether in the studio or at the club, Daphni represents Dan Snaith's pursuit of letting music follow its own path. With Cherry, this concept is more prominent than ever. The tracks seem to have a life of their own, beyond Snaith's control, and this has become a driving force in their creation. Snaith says, 'There isn't an obvious unifier, but it's good that I made it without worrying about that. I just let it happen.' Recorded over a long period, Snaith allowed the music to flow freely. Only when he combined all his musical experiments did he realize what he had created. 'It's strange that when the tracks were put in the right order, they gained a new coherence,' he says. 'It quickly jumps from one idea to the next and, at least for me, feels unified. Maybe it's because my musical fingerprints are always on my music, whether I want them to be or not.' The individual parts also have a sense of independence. The essence of Daphni is always present in this free - flowing music that almost escapes Snaith's grasp as it twists and turns. Snaith explains, 'New equipment played a role, as is often the case when working quickly and intuitively.' New gear and working methods allowed Snaith to be at the center of the music while letting it deviate a bit before reining it in for his purposes, or as he puts it, 'getting the snake to eat its own tail'.
To enjoy this double vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is in good working condition. Place the record gently on the turntable, align the needle carefully at the start of the groove, and let the music play. When handling the records, always hold them by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface, as this can affect the sound quality. After each use, store the records in their sleeves to protect them from dust and scratches. Keep the records in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. This will help maintain the quality of the vinyl and ensure you can enjoy the unique sounds of Daphni's Cherry for years to come.
