The songwriting journey started in 2019 when Bobby wasn't sure if he'd make another Primal Scream album. For the first time, lyrics preceded the music, with stories taking the lead. Bobby wrote alone on an acoustic guitar, and ideas came in long, fast - flowing bursts of inspiration. With the encouragement of producer David Holmes, a new creative path emerged. The album sessions were completed across Belfast, London, and Los Angeles, with Holmes and guitarist Andrew Innes. Bobby Gillespie is as excited about this album as if it were his first. The theme of Come Ahead might revolve around conflict, be it inner or outer. The title, a Glaswegian term, reflects the indomitable spirit and cheeky attitude of the Glaswegians.
