Description

Fairport Convention's journey over four albums in two years is a standout in British popular music. These records feature some of the most famous names in world music. Starting as school friends aiming to be 'the British Jefferson Airplane', they transformed into leaders of British folk rock. Like American folk and blues drawing from gospel and spirituals, Fairport mined traditional English folk songs and combined them with rock rhythms, creating something ground - breaking and widely emulated. Many heard the great talents of Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, and others on record for the first time through these works. Their 1968 Polydor debut, 'Fairport Convention', recorded in November 1967, offers a sunny, suburban take on the summer of love. The vocal blend of Ian Matthews and Judy Dyble, guitar interplay of Simon Nicol and Richard Thompson, and rhythm section of Ashley Hutchings and Martin Lamble show their amazing potential. They covered Joni Mitchell's songs when she was relatively unknown overseas. 'Chelsea Morning' showcases Dyble's sweet voice, and 'I Don't Know Where I Stand' with its drifting guitar points to the group's long - lasting appeal.

To enjoy this Fairport Convention vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently remove the LP from its sleeve, holding it by the edges to avoid fingerprints. Place it on the turntable and set the tonearm carefully on the record. As the music plays, sit back and soak in the unique blend of British folk and rock. When you're done, lift the tonearm gently and return it to its rest. Then, carefully put the LP back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store it in a cool, dry place, standing upright to prevent warping. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures, as this can damage the vinyl.
