Description
It's been four years since Cherry Glazerr's magnificent third album 'Stuffed and Ready'. But Clementine Creevy took her time. She said, 'I've spent these years deeply examining myself and my relationships, and writing about them. I'm coming to terms with a lot of my nonsense.' Since Creevy was in high - school, Cherry Glazerr has been on tour frequently. When the pandemic hit, she embraced a stillness she'd missed.
Creevy calls Cherry Glazerr's bold new album 'I Don't Want You Anymore' her most personal and raw music yet. It's a collection of songs about self - reflection. This is her first production since 'Haxel Princess', their garage - rock debut almost a decade ago when Creevy was a teen.
Creevy describes 'I Don't Want You Anymore' as a'mature' album, mainly about her personal growth. In true Cherry Glazerr style, it's extremely fun. She worked with producer Yves Rothman, known for his work with Yves Tumor.
The lead single 'Soft Like a Flower' shows her growth. A hazy guitar riff starts the track, then Creevy's open vocals join. She sings about an all - consuming obsession, and long - time bandmate Sami Perez joins her on the chorus. It's an emotionally - charged 'Evanescence moment', as Creevy calls it. 'I wanted this album to be all heart and soul, completely open,' she says.
'I Don't Want You Anymore' uses surprise well. Each track re - imagines what Cherry Glazerr can be. 'Bad Habit' starts with a swirling vocal loop Creevy recorded at home and turns into a wild downtempo dance track without a guitar. 'Ready for You' is sung in a funky staccato, and the simple bassline at first is taken over by a huge, crackling guitar riff, reminding you it's a rock album at heart. These songs can fit any part of your life.
