Launched in 2017, PHANTOM BRICKWORKS is an ambient/drone project by Stephen James Wilkinson, also known as Bibio. This project delves into the lingering human echoes in different British sites. Wilkinson visited these places, witnessed their slow decline, and created improvised and composed music in response. In 2024, a new sequel, PHANTOM BRICKWORKS (LP II), is a 10 - track LP. Mastered by Guy Davie and vinyl - cut by Hendrik Pauler, it focuses on new sites. Some are fascinating, large marks on the natural landscape, others only live on in local memories, old clips, and photos. A few are hidden from plain sight, while some exist merely as legends.
