Vollebekk's Revelation, a vinyl 2LP album, features 11 tracks that blend narrative lyrics and numerous one-take lead vocal performances with cinematic arrangements, stunning sonics, well-placed space, and lush orchestration. Inspired by an exploration starting with Carl Jung's I Ching and delving into alchemy and the mystery of the navine, Vollebekk's songwriting process resulted in an album that is both organic and celestial. Themes of nature like water, astral constellations, and mortality are woven into a meditation on living in a changing present filled with existential doubt and the search for a higher power. Recorded at Sunset Sound and Dreamland in Woodstock, New York, Revelation reflects over two years of isolation. During this time, Vollebekk found a partner and started a family, and used the time to study astronomy, tend his garden, build furniture, study alchemy, and think about his future. 'It was like retiring in my 30s while still enjoying it,' Leif says. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi. Vollebekk, an artist admired by colleagues, self-produced the album and played various instruments. He assembled an impressive supporting cast including legendary drummer Jim Keltner, notable steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar, and revered bassist Shahzad Ismaily.
