Root Down is the 1972 live album of Hammond B - 3 jazz legend Jimmy Smith on Verve. Recorded in LA that year, it stars a young band deeply influenced by the funk and rock scenes of the era. The album's title track was sampled by the Beastie Boys for their 1995 recording. Verve’s Acoustic Sounds Series offers transfers from analog tapes and remastered 180 - gram vinyl in deluxe gatefold packaging.
