Description

The debut collaboration between American minimal techno pioneer Troy Pierce and Colombian audiovisual artist Natalia Escobar, known as Pierce With Arrow, took a reverse approach. First, they crafted a set of shadowy surrealist videos and then composed music inspired by them. This unique process was highly productive. Shatter is a slow - building noir journey influenced by the Greek myth of Echo and Narcissus. It features various musical elements like sleepwalker dub, metallic lament, broken beats, and erotic negative space. The album's core message, 'There is nothing more complex than a shattered heart, or a heart that can't love,' is effectively conveyed. What stands out about Pierce With Arrow's partnership is their rhythmic restraint. The 10 tracks on the album shift between glamour and gloom, with only occasional dread - filled beats mapping the unease. They aimed for a'spatial approach,' which is evident in the immersive design and patient execution of the music, allowing each sound to fully reverberate. Guest appearances by austere techno producer Konrad Black and drum n bass expert dBridge blend smoothly into the album, adding subtle accents to the exploration of longing and lust. The final track, 'Narcissus,' brings a change as it swells elegiacally over a muted heartbeat, like Narcissus in awe of his reflection, revealing true beauty at last.

To enjoy this vinyl LP, simply place it on your turntable and gently drop the needle on the start of the track you want to listen to. When handling the LP, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on the record. Keep the LP away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures as these can damage the vinyl. After each use, carefully place the LP back in its sleeve to protect it from scratches. If the LP gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust and debris.
