Luca Yupanqui recorded her debut album before birth. Out on April 2 via Sacred Bones, 'Sounds of the Unborn' expresses life in its pure, cosmic state - before the mind, speculation, influence, and humanity. It's the first album created by someone in the womb, a message from a different realm. Using biosonic MIDI technology, Luca's in - utero movements were turned into sound. With the help of her parents, Psychic Ills bassist Elizabeth Hart and Lee Scratch Perry collaborator Iván Diaz Mathé, they designed a unique ritual. MIDI devices were hooked to Elizabeth's stomach, transcribing vibrations into Iván's synthesizers. After five hour - long free - form meditation sessions, the album took shape. Elizabeth and Iván then edited and mixed with minimal intervention, keeping Luca's raw message intact.
