Description
Just like this year's well - received 'Moving On Skiffle', 'Accentuate The Positive' finds Van Morrison diving back into one of his childhood loves: rock 'n' roll. After World War II, growing up in Belfast, he was deeply influenced by the exciting sounds of 20th - century blues and rock 'n' roll. Artists like Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, and The Everly Brothers inspired him, and soon he was reinterpreting these sounds with his band in local Belfast venues. Decades later, Van Morrison revisits this genre by reimagining some of his favorite songs for 'Accentuate The Positive'. He infuses these timeless tunes with new energy, constantly challenging and expanding on the traditions. His unique voice, combined with great arrangements, brings new life to songs like The Johnny Burnette Trio's 'Lonesome Train', Johnny Kidd & The Pirates' 'Shakin' All Over', and Big Joe Turner's 'Flip, Flop and Fly'. The album features electric guitar from the late Jeff Beck and vocals from Chris Farlowe on 'Lonesome Train'. Taj Mahal plays guitar on 'Lucille' and 'Shake, Rattle and Roll'. The album tracklist is as follows: Side 1 includes 'You Are My Sunshine', 'When Will I Be Loved', 'Two Hound Dogs', 'Flip, Flop and Fly', and 'I Want a Roof Over My Head'. Side 2 has 'Problems', 'Hang Up My Rock & Roll Shoes', 'The Shape I'm In', 'Accentuate the Positive', and 'Lonesome Train'. Side 3 features 'A Shot of Rhythm and Blues', 'Shakin' All Over', 'Bye Bye Johnny', 'Red Sails in the Sunset', and 'Sea of Heartbreak'. Side 4 includes 'Blueberry Hill', 'Bonaparte's Retreat', 'Lucille', and 'Shake Rattle and Roll'.
