This unique vinyl LP features rare recordings from 1941 - 1951. Most are unheard before, and some were previously unknown. It chronicles Bird's growth from a budding soloist in the Jay McShann Band to a jazz - dominating improviser. Besides two unreleased 78s with the McShann band, it includes private recordings at Phil Baxter's home and Vic Damon's studio. A relaxed Parker shows us the future of jazz.
