Description
On September 22nd, Daylight Saving Records will release Blowdry Colossus, the new solo album by Peter Brewis of Field Music. This is Peter's first solo project since 2008's The Week That Was, following collaborative albums with Paul Smith and Sarah Hayes. Recorded at the Field Music studio in Sunderland over the last year, it features contributions from his brother David, Sarah Hayes, and his son Alexander. Peter's music is always marked by curiosity, exploring new musical and lyrical paths. Blowdry Colossus makes this even more evident. Peter says, 'I wanted the music to be the focus, not just the lyrics.' This mostly - instrumental album draws inspiration from Yellow Magic Orchestra, Thelonious Monk, and Penguin Cafe Orchestra, with a touch of 8 - bit game soundtrack energy. It's synthesizer art music, like Kraftwerk's, but with a playful chaos. The album is full of sonic mutations, from a piano sounding like a flute to synth drum loops turning into arpeggios. The only song with lyrics, 'Dog Bark Dark', is a surreal chase. Tracks include Drumeoscene, Lemoncadabra, and more.
To enjoy this vinyl LP, simply place it on your turntable and start the playback. Make sure your turntable is clean and in good working condition. When handling the record, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints and scratches. Store the LP in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat. After each use, return it to its sleeve carefully. Don't play the record too loudly as it might cause distortion. And if you notice any dust on the record, use a proper record cleaning brush to gently remove it.
