This debut album from Cape Town's visionary drummer showcases jazz at its most spiritual and progressive. As Asher says, it's about constant motion and refusing to stand still. Recorded live in two days at Cape Town's Sound and Motion Studios with top - notch musicians, it's full of musical vitality and a soulful quest for truth. With the concept of Total Art, it fits On The Corner's aesthetic. Label art director Victoria Topping designed the sleeve with Asher's input. Asher's 'state of emergence' sets the album's themes, with free drums for African motion and saxophone reflecting on colonialism. Fundamentally, it's about reclaiming history and the dialect of the soul in motion.
