Description
DARKSIDE, an American rock band from Providence, Rhode Island, formed in 2011. It features Chilean electronic musician and vocalist Nicolás Jaar and American multi - instrumentalist Dave Harrington, who met through their mutual friend, saxophonist Will Epstein, while studying in Providence. In 2011 summer, they toured Europe and Australia for Jaar’s debut album Space Is Only Noise. Back in Providence, they kept writing together, releasing a self - titled EP in 2012 and the critically acclaimed album Psychic on Matador Records in October 2013, which got rave reviews, like a 9.0 from Pitchfork and was called “the soundtrack to a lost David Lynch sci - fi movie” by The New York Times. In 2018 summer, Harrington and Jaar rented a house in present - day Flemington, New Jersey. They spent a week there, creating a song each day. Six songs of their second album Spiral were written and recorded then, though it took another year and a half to finish the album. Jaar says DARKSIDE has always been their jam band, and Harrington feels it was time to come back together. Making music in DARKSIDE lets them do things they'd never do alone.
