DREAMVIOLENCE is BAMBARA's long - awaited full - length album, following their well - received debut EP Dog Ear Days in 2010. After numerous ear - splitting shows in Athens, touring the US in steamy house gigs, and sharing the stage with big names like Iceage, Grimes, Liturgy, A Place to Bury Strangers, and Parts and Labor, BAMBARA left Athens for a basement in Bushwick, Brooklyn in 2012. There, they spent most of the year practicing, sleeping, and recording. After releasing a Kate Bush cover and a 10 - minute improv noise EP RINGS earlier that year, they started working on DREAMVIOLENCE. With a simple recording setup and little sunlight, the band captured their signature dark, dirty, noisy sound while still maintaining an underlying lush beauty. Reid's voice alternates between a croon and a snarl, painting vivid pictures of the city. Blaze and William's powerful rhythm section drives through the vocal chaos. BAMBARA doesn't want you to feel at ease in DREAMVIOLENCE. They'll take you through spooky noise before you reach the dreamy bliss at the end.
