Description
Texas - bred singer - songwriter and Big Thief guitarist Buck Meek is excited to announce his new album, Haunted Mountain, set to be released on August 25. This is his first release for 4AD. He's also shared the lead single and title track, 'Haunted Mountain', co - written with his friend and long - time hero Jolie Holland. Following his well - loved 2021 album, Two Saviors, Haunted Mountain is Meek's third solo album. It delves into love and something greater, a soulfulness or a soul - seeking fullness. Meek says writing love songs is tough. The lead single 'Haunted Mountain' has sweet lyrics from Meek and Holland, who co - wrote five of the 11 songs. The song, about seeking reciprocity with nature, comes with a great in - studio video. The album was recorded near the Franklin Mountains in Tornillo. The songs were written in various mountainous places where Meek's new love was born. On this album, love takes natural, artificial, and cosmic forms, exploring the bond between mother and sun and asking if love is magic. Buck's consistent band includes Adam Brisbin, Austin Vaughn, and Mat Davidson. For Haunted Mountain, Ken Woodward and Meek's brother Dylan joined. Produced by Davidson, the album was recorded and mixed in two weeks by Adrian Olsen. The goal was a hi - fi album that contrasts with Two Saviors while keeping intimacy. Meek believes there are still great love songs to be written. Tracklisting: 1. Mood Ring 2. Haunted Mountain 3. Paradise 4. Cyclades 5. Secret Side 6. Didn't Know You Then 7. Undae Dunes 8.
