Cheater Slicks, a no - holds - barred trio from Columbus, Ohio, are back at Los Angeles’ In The Red Records with the exciting and musically diverse Ill - Fated Cusses. The ten - track collection follows Piano Tunnels, a benefit collaboration with Bill Gage based on free - form improvisation. They've known Gage since 1987 when they were all in the Boston area. Besides core members Tom and Dave Shannon and Dana Hatch, other players joined this record. Will Foster, who recorded it, plays various keyboards and MIDI instrument emulations. James Arthur of Fireworks and the Necessary Evils plays bass on every song. Cheater Slicks have mostly stuck to the two - guitars - and - drums formula since Boston. After 35 years, it's hard to just label them as a 'garage - rock band'. Ill - Fated Cusses explores a wide musical range with nine original songs and a cover of Charlie Feathers’ 'Cold Dark Night'.
