Description

A Wednesday song is like a well - crafted quilt. It's a short - story collection, a half - memory, and a patchwork of American southern portraits. Karly Hartzman, the songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist of this project, is both a story collector and teller, a true student of people and one - liners. Rat Saw God, the Asheville quintet's top - notch new record, is ekphrastic yet autobiographical and full of empathy. Across the album's ten tracks, Hartzman, guitarist MJ Lenderman, bassist Margo Shultz, drummer Alan Miller, and lap/pedal steel player Xandy Chelmis create a tribute to the little things. The album offers half - funny, half - tragic tales from North Carolina, somewhere between the wailing of Nineties shoegaze and classic country twang. The distorted lap steel and Hartzman's voice cut through the noise. Rat Saw God is about a bike ride in Greensboro, listening to My Bloody Valentine on an iPod Nano for the first time. It features a neighborhood creek full of broken glass and condoms, front yards with rusted car parts, and a house reclaimed by kudzu. It tells of Four Lokos, rodeo clowns, and a kid burning a corn field. There are roadside monuments, church marquees, and vodka in a plastic bottle. It captures the South's all - night hum from summer to fall, the sound of high school football games, and the light pollution's halo effect. The songs on Rat Saw God focus on everyday life, real and chaotic, in line with Hartzman's belief that every story is worth telling. You don't need all the references to enjoy the album; it's the small moments that build up to something special.

To use this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Place the vinyl gently on the turntable, center it, and lower the needle carefully onto the groove. Enjoy the music at a comfortable volume. When you're done, lift the needle and return it to its rest. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. Avoid touching the grooves with your fingers as it can cause scratches and affect the sound quality. If the vinyl gets dirty, use a proper vinyl cleaning brush to gently remove dust and debris.
