Description

Released in May 1989 and produced by Trevor Horn and Stephen Lipson, 'Street Fighting Years' is Simple Minds’ eighth studio album. Recorded in Scotland from 1988 - 1989 during band personnel changes, it departs from the band’s previous sound. While keeping the well - known Arena Rock style, it moves away from Soul influences and embraces a new Celtic/Folk sound. The lyrics explore political themes like the poll tax, the Irish ‘Troubles’, and highlight political activists such as Nelson Mandela and Steven Biko. This album became the band’s fourth consecutive UK number - one. It followed the chart - topping single 'Belfast Child'. This remastered version, fully endorsed by the band, was remastered at Abbey Road studios by Andrew Walters. It includes the album, a bonus disc of B - sides, edits, 12 remixes, and most of the previously unissued 1989 Verona show. The booklet, designed by Stuart Crouch, has sleeve notes by Daryl Easlea, offering insights into the album's recording, production, and the band's situation at the time.

Using this vinyl set is easy. Just place it on your turntable and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid getting fingerprints on the record, which could affect the sound quality. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. If the vinyl gets dirty, use a proper record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. The booklet is a great addition. You can read it to learn more about the album's making and the band's story at that time. Remember to handle the booklet with care to avoid tearing the pages.
