On the top floor of RG Scotts in Margate, there's a collection of tables. These tables were transformed into field recordings, then programmed into scatter rhythms, and finally became the basis for Mike Lindsay's new solo album, Supershapes (Volume 1). It's the first in a series of records by the Mercury Prize - winning producer and mixing engineer. He's also the co - founder of the UK acid folktronica band Tunng and half of the electronic alt - psych duo LUMP with Laura Marling. This series explores 'the miraculous in the mundane'. Volume 1 focuses on everyday domestic objects like tables and coffee - table books, and the daily rituals that shape us, highlighting the grandeur in the domestic. The album is like a table in itself, with collaborators including Anna B Savage and other musicians and artists, continuing Lindsay's tradition of collaboration. Tracklist: Side A - A1. lie down, A2. ruins in reverse, A3. table, A4. pretender to surrender, A5. kachumber; Side B - B1. two blues, B2. it’s all for you, B3. do what, B4. content, B5. i was the thief.
