Description
On the 'Amber' track, Hibotep commands attention with stabbing drums and marauding bass that blend seamlessly with her multilingual lyrics. In 'Ebwino', she teams up with artist Will’stone to create a blistering, low-slung rap track (the album is due on Hakuna Kulala this year), followed by the instrumental and playful 'Saffron'. Hibotep, of Somali ancestry, was born and raised in Ethiopia and now lives in Kampala, Uganda, reconnecting with her twin sister. She's a multi - faceted artist, a DJ, filmmaker, fashion designer, installation artist, rapper, and producer. Dubbed a cultural nomad, she promotes a genre she calls Industrial Shamanism. She's been recognized by Mixmag as one of the 17 women shaping African dance music and by Resident Advisor as one of 15 East African Artists You Need to Hear. This vinyl is a split EP with the well - regarded artist KMRU on the other side. 'Ebwino feat. Will'stone (Radio Edit)' is the lead single (released on April 19). 'Ebwino' means ink and represents adding color to life. Will'stone will release his debut album in September on the famous Hakuna Kulala label, with 8 tracks full of fiery energy over heavy grooves. Tracklist: Side A: 1. Wind Bags - Kmru; 2. Lune - Kmru; 3. Wind Bags - Kmru. Side B: 1. Amber - Hibotep; 2. Ebwino - Hibotep Feat. Will'stone; 3. Saffron – Hibotep.
