Description
This is a 180 - gram audiophile vinyl. It's the 1958 debut album of the shock - rock pioneer, Screamin' Jay Hawkins. The album features the rock 'n roll cult classic “I Put A Spell On You”, which has been covered by many famous artists like Creedence Clearwater Revival, Nina Simone, Bryan Ferry, Joe Cocker, Nick Cave, Marilyn Manson, Joss Stone, and Annie Lennox. It's the first time this album is released on colored vinyl. There are only 1000 individually numbered copies on solid red colored vinyl. Screamin' Jay Hawkins' “I Put A Spell On You” was meant to be a blues ballad. But in the studio, after getting drunk, he and his musicians created one of the most intense and visceral songs in pop history. His groans, moans, splutters, and spits during the recording gave it a haunting feel and led to a ban on many radio stations. Yet, it became a hit, allowing him to record more of his unique operatic music, resulting in this first album. Tracks like “Hong Kong”, “Yellow Coat”, “Take Me Back To My Boots And Saddle”, and “I Put A Spell On You” make this record a must - have.
Using this vinyl record is easy. Just place it on your turntable and use the tonearm to gently lower the needle onto the groove. Start playing and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on it. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place and keep it upright in a record sleeve to prevent warping. If the record gets dirty, you can use a vinyl cleaning brush to gently clean the grooves. Don't expose the vinyl to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures as it can damage the quality of the sound.
