EELS, an American alternative rock band founded in California in 1995 by Mark Oliver Everett (stage - named 'E'), is a musical powerhouse. Band members have changed over the years, with Everett being the constant force. Their music, rich in themes of family, death, and lost love, spans various genres, as seen in each album's unique style. In 1996, they were among the first to sign with DreamWorks and released their acclaimed debut, Beautiful Freak. The album's single 'Novocaine for the Soul' brought international success, hitting number 10 in the UK Singles Chart in February 1997 and topping the Billboard Modern Rock Tracks chart for two weeks in October 1996, staying on the chart for 25 weeks. Side A features hits like 'Novocaine For The Soul' and 'Beautiful Freak', while Side B offers gems such as 'Flower' and 'Manchild'.
