Description

Cherry Blossom Baby is Shigeto's first full - length work since 2017. It emerges from a collective thaw, being ambitious, collaborative, and fully realized. This Detroit - based, Japanese - American musician, DJ, co - founder of Portage Garage Sounds label, and long - time Ghostly International artist takes on the roles of producer and composer. With boldness and purposeful cultivation, the band - crafted sound pays homage to traditions in electronic, jazz, R&B, and hip - hop, a unique fusion that's his signature and now more vivid than ever. Zach Saginaw, along with guests and players, presents a moment in time, a celebration of self - love and an expression of vitality deeply rooted in Detroit and influenced by his family's cultural history. 'I am a cherry blossom baby,' he says. 'We all are cherry blossom babies, resilient, growing, and will keep on.' Heritage has been central to Saginaw's recording project from the start. His middle name, Shigeto, passed down from his great - grandfather, means 'to grow'. Given his premature birth weight of less than a pound, it was fitting then and still suits the evolution of his artistry, nearly 15 years after signing to Ghostly. On Lineage (GI - 148, 2012), Saginaw explored an ancestral story. The artwork contrasted photos of his great - grandfather's Hiroshima home in 1916 and later at the Amache Internment Camp in Colorado, where his family was sent during WWII. This theme continues in Cherry Blossom Baby, where Saginaw draws inspiration from the cherry trees in Hiroshima, symbols of hope, resilience, and renewal. Tracklist: A1. Dial In (Intro); A2. Ready. To use this vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the vinyl on the turntable, and use the tonearm to carefully drop the needle onto the starting groove of the record. You can then sit back and enjoy the music. When handling the vinyl, always hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface. After each use, store the vinyl in its protective sleeve and keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. This will help prevent warping and keep the sound quality high. If the vinyl gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust. Don't use harsh chemicals as they may damage the vinyl.
