Description

Written, recorded, produced, and mixed by OMD - Andy McCluskey and Paul Humphreys, 'English Electric' is a 12 - track album that's a love letter to technology, space, and love. It's a glorious comeback for the band whose 1980 hit 'Enola Gay' graced the world stage at last year's Olympics Opening Ceremony. The album features percolating synth - pop at varying speeds, executed with extreme finesse. Late - night electro ballads blend with big - sounding club cuts, and there are three interlude tracks. One is the dystopian 'Please Remain Seated', and 'Decimal' comes with a cool mechanical video directed by German motion and graphic designer Henning M. Lederer. As Andy McCluskey says, the album has an overarching sense of loss and melancholia about things not turning out as hoped, whether in tech or personal relationships. The title, taken from a British industrial manufacturing company, holds extra meaning for the two as locomotive fans and tech geeks.

To use this vinyl LP, first make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the record on the turntable, aligning the center hole with the spindle. Lower the tonearm carefully onto the edge of the record. You're all set to enjoy the music! When handling the record, hold it by the edges to avoid fingerprints on the playing surface. After each use, store the record in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Keep it in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. If the record gets dirty, you can use a record cleaning brush to gently remove dust particles.
