Description
After almost two years, Okonski makes a comeback with Entrance Music. This album showcases the trio at the peak of their improvisational skills, celebrating spontaneity and meditation. Following the 2023 debut Magnolia, pianist and leader Steve Okonski has reunited with long - time musical partners (Aaron Frazer on drums, a bandmate of Durand Jones and the Indications, and bassist Michael Isvara “Ish” Montgomery). Their music is inspired by artists like the Bad Plus, Gerald Clayton, and The Breathing Effect. Entrance Music is like an invitation to the early hours. The songs seem to hover in the doorway, announcing themselves before fading away, gently drifting into the next piece. Recorded over a five - day session, Entrance Music was one of the first albums taped at Portage Lounge, Terry Cole’s studio in Loveland, OH. Okonski says, “It was a new setup, but with Terry in control, it felt very familiar. Terry is like a fourth band member because of the space he creates, the energy he brings, and his production ideas.” The sound produced with the Colemine label head leading is suitable for both ECM and Stones Throw catalogues. Okonski also mentions that while the debut album reflects his time in New York, Entrance Music “feels a bit less like 'being on the streets at 2 A.M.' and more nature - based, more ethereal. It shows the influence of age, environment, and family.” Tracklisting: 1. October 2. Vista 3. Lakebridge 4. Wind Or Vertigo 5. Passing Through 6. Summer Storm 7. Dahlia 8. Dusk 9. Penny
To enjoy your Entrance Music vinyl LP, first, make sure your record player is clean and in good working condition. Gently place the LP on the turntable, center it, and put the stylus on the lead - in groove. Let the music play and relax. When handling the LP, hold it by the edges to avoid getting fingerprints on the playing surface, as this can affect the sound quality. After each use, carefully put the LP back in its sleeve to protect it from dust and scratches. Store the LP in a cool, dry place, standing upright to prevent warping. This will help you keep the album in great shape for many years of listening pleasure.
