However, a long - hidden recording in a distant vault can now make the Fanny legend real. Over 50 years later, it's time to relive their magic. 'Live on Beat - Club ’71 - ’72' showcases two sets Fanny recorded for a German TV show, expertly mastered by Mike Milchner from high - res mono files of the original videotape. The performances are not just incendiary but incredibly tight. Each member is a powerhouse. June Millington's guitar skills on her Les Paul are amazing, Jean's bass lines are driving and melodic with Janis Joplin - like vocals, Nickey Barclay's keyboard work is both intricate and rocking, and Alice de Buhr's drumming is precise and powerful. Together, Fanny was a force of talent, and these live shows prove they were even greater as a whole. Alice has long campaigned to release these recordings, and June shares a story in the liner notes about an engineer saying their material was the best in the vault, better than Hendrix.
