Lock Eyes and Collide: Vinyl LP

Coherence? Overrated. The second EP, Lock Eyes & Collide, from South London's Moreish Idols offers a heady magic. With hazy vibes and rough edges, the four tracks feature hyper - melodic guitars, sleepy - eyed poetic murmurs, wise saxophone riffs, and unique rhythms. It's hard to define what they're doing in these fifteen minutes; just get lost in the twists and turns. They worked with Dan Carey after their earlier releases. Float EP had post - punk influences, but Lock Eyes & Collide is different, a looser collection of ideas hinting at the group's future. The elements like tremolo guitars, melodic riddles, saxophone improvs, and flexible rhythms blend perfectly on vinyl. It sounds like Pavement at times and Canterbury Scene prog at others, always unmistakably Moreish Idols. As Tom says, making this EP instead of a Float II gives them the freedom to do anything.
