Description
Grammy - winning singer, songwriter, and multi - instrumentalist Amanda Shires says that Loving You reflects on the life and music of Bobbie Nelson. Shires aimed to pay tribute to the first woman she saw in a band and pursuing a sideman career. 'I was 16 when I first saw Bobbie play at a Texas festival where I grew up,' she recalls. 'Seeing a woman make a career in music at a young age made my musical path seem possible, and that woman was Bobbie Nelson.' Bobbie Nelson's musical career started in the 1940s. A natural on the piano, she played in churches, revival tents, concert halls, and honky - tonks, and joined her brother Willie Nelson's Family Band in the early '70s. In 2021, Shires and Nelson recorded at Arlyn Studios in Austin, Texas, co - owned by Nelson's son, Freddy Fletcher. The album 'Loving You' features timeless songs they loved and Nelson's elegant solo piano title cut, tracing her musical and personal journey. Tracks include 'Waltz Across Texas', 'Always On My Mind', and more.
