Description
In 2013, Mutoid Man, a Brooklyn trio, burst onto the scene with an unstoppable force. Their unique blend combines basement punk's care - free energy, classic metal's flamboyant showmanship, and prog rock's musical dexterity. After the success of their debut EP 'Helium Head' in 2013, they were on a roll, releasing two full - length albums, 'Bleeder' in 2015 and 'War Moans' in 2017, and touring extensively across the US and Europe. With support tours for acts like Mastodon and Danzig, their rise to the top of the heavy metal world seemed inevitable. But life threw some curveballs - lineup changes, a move from Brooklyn, other high - profile music projects, and the pandemic put the band on hold. After a six - year recording break, Mutoid Man is back with a bang, reclaiming their throne with 'Mutants', their third full - length album. Guitarist/vocalist Stephen Brodsky (Cave In, Old Man Gloom) and drummer Ben Koller (Converge, Killer Be Killed) are masters at creating a unique brand of intense, focused, and over - the - top metal. With bassist Jeff Matz (High on Fire, Zeke) on board, they form a powerhouse of prog - level musicians with a punk attitude. 'Mutants' is far from academic noodling; it's full of exuberant joy. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, members in different cities, and busy schedules of other bands, the album still has the endorphin rush of their early days. Brodsky says the strength of the new material kept them going. Track Listing: 1. Call of the Void 2. Frozen Hearts 3. Broken Glass Ceiling 4. Siren Song 5. Graveyard Love 6. Unborn 7. Siphon 8.
