Description
No band burns with a more subdued passion than The Slow Show, the Manchester four - piece. They've crafted a name for themselves with soaring musical peaks and profound emotional depths, creating music that speaks to romantics and the heart - wounded. With their fifth album, Subtle Love, they present their most powerful and far - reaching collection yet. Singer Rob Goodwin says, 'The record is a tribute to love in all its forms.' Subtle Love refines The Slow Show's rich indie - pop style and ventures into new, exciting musical territories, mixing in charming folk like 'Royal Blue' and epic, grand - scale rock in 'One Shot'. Across ten tracks, listeners embark on a journey through the band's past and into an alluring future. It's a highly melodic and touching experience, born from a group of kindred spirits and lifelong friends. The band went to Cave Hill in Belfast, where Joel Byrne - McCullough grew up. 'I hadn't been there for 15 years,' the guitarist marvels. During their stay, they bonded closely. Rob reveals, 'It was a great time of togetherness. We lived in the same house, ate together, went to the local pub, and talked about life.' In just five days, all ten album songs took shape and were recorded by producer Dan Byrne - McCullough, Joel's brother. Dan's presence brought an intimacy that made the band shine. 'One Shot' is the album's first teaser and is arguably the band's most anthemic and sing - along song to date. Joel recalls, 'I remember when we had the music for One Shot. It was evening, we were in the sitting room in Belfast, the fire was on, and we were having dinner watching the news. After dinner, Rob started singing over the chords. As soon as he sang, 'We've got one shot', I knew that was it.' Tracks: 1. Roulette 2. Tides 3. Learning to Dance 4. Subtle Love 5. Royal Blue 6. One Shot 7. Lament 8. Builder Boy 9. Trainride 10.
