Description

Originally released by Island Records in June 1969, this re - issue precisely replicates the original UK release. It's pressed on high - quality 180g vinyl. A masterpiece collaboration between David Vorhaus, Brian Hodgson, and Delia Derbyshire, White Noise: An Electric Storm is a true cult album. The capitalized rear sleeve message hints at its uniqueness: many unheard sounds and 'Storm Techniques' that blend singers, instrumentalists, and complex electronic sounds, with maximum emotional intensity. Derbyshire and Hodgson were from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, and Vorhaus, a North London Poly student, joined forces with them. By mixing electronics, tape loops, vocals, and live percussion, it's a pioneer of strange future sounds. Bands like Hawkwind, Tangerine Dream, and Throbbing Gristle are influenced by it. The vocals by Annie Bird, John Whitman, and Val Shaw are like untutored folk singers against a backdrop of ecstasy, pain, distant thunder, and car crashes. The first side has Beach Boy - like harmony moments, while Phase II, The Visitation and The Black Mass: An Electric Storm In Hell, is a chilling listen. It was the underground sound, a soundtrack for an unmade 70s horror film, and still unnerves in the 21st century.

Using this vinyl LP is simple. Just place it on a turntable and let the needle gently drop onto the groove to start playing. When handling the vinyl, make sure your hands are clean to avoid leaving fingerprints or dirt on it. Store the vinyl in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent warping. Also, keep it in its protective sleeve when not in use. If the vinyl gets dirty, you can use a soft, anti - static brush to clean it. Avoid using harsh chemicals as they can damage the vinyl surface.
