Description

Cherry Blossom Baby is Shigeto's first full - length work since 2017. Emerging from a collective thaw, it's an ambitious, collaborative, and fully realized musical masterpiece. The Detroit - based, Japanese - American musician, DJ, co - founder of Portage Garage Sounds label, and long - time Ghostly International artist steps into the roles of producer and composer. With a bold and intentional sound crafted by the band, it honors traditions in electronic, jazz, R&B, and hip - hop, a signature fusion that's more vibrant than ever. Zach Saginaw, along with guests and players, presents a moment in time, a celebration of self - love and an expression of vitality deeply rooted in Detroit and influenced by his family's cultural history. 'I am a cherry blossom baby,' he says, 'We all are resilient, growing, and will keep evolving.' Heritage has been at the core of Saginaw's recording project. His middle name, Shigeto, meaning 'to grow', suits his artistic evolution. On Lineage, he explored an ancestral story. Cherry Blossom Baby continues this line, drawing inspiration from the cherry trees in Hiroshima, symbols of hope, resilience, and renewal. Tracklist: A1. Dial In (Intro); A2. Ready. Set. Flex. (feat. Zelooperz); A3. Runnup On'm (feat. Cleveland Thrasher and Ahya Simone); A4. Nothing Simple (feat. Tammy Lakkis and Cleveland Thrasher); A5. The Punch! (feat. KESSWA); B1. Let’s Talk (feat.
